Hospice volunteers find that reflecting upon interactions with patients and families are often the most moving way to reveal what is truly important in life. The stories they share are a personal way of conveying beautiful ideas and thoughts, which have the ability to make profound end of life experiences come alive for us. There is a great sense of truth in what these volunteers share and their perspectives are unique, revealing great moments of wisdom, connection and beauty. Their personal stories also provide us with an expanded depth of knowledge and understanding about life, and, the ability to gain insight from within—these “windows within” are what Hospice volunteers are honored to peer through every day. It is my hope that these reflections serve as a source of knowledge and inspiration; true reminders of how we can all live a more meaningful life.
